Successful applicants typically demonstrate prior experience coordinating multi-day events on tribal lands, including documented agreements with tribal historic preservation offices. Projects must also list at least two backup venues within 100 miles when primary sites lack sufficient floor space for simultaneous printmaking and textile demonstrations.
Montana's distance from major international airports necessitates detailed itineraries showing ground transport from Billings or Bozeman to remote exhibition sites. Groups that secure commitments from local ranching cooperatives for lodging support receive faster technical review.
Unlike Idaho applications, Montana requires proof of four-wheel-drive vehicle access for winter site visits in counties above 4,000 feet elevation.
