These cost differentials limit the number of horticulturists who can attend specialized sessions on drought-resistant species and irrigation scheduling.
The program structure requires applicants to provide itemized budgets showing how scholarship funds will offset registration, mileage at the state rate, and lodging at approved facilities. Priority is given to applicants whose gardens are located more than 150 miles from the nearest university extension office offering comparable content.
